Feeding/Digestion
The Angler fish is so named for the glowing lure on its head, which it uses to entice fish into range of its jaws. In the dark ocean, the lure, known as an esca, appears as a blueish light. Passing fish become curious, and upon investigation, are snapped up by the waiting predator.
The angler fish has a complete digestive system. When prey is caught, it moves down the esophagus to the stomach, which can hold prey up to twice the angler fish's size. the stomach releases digestive enzymes, and once broken down, the food is absorbed in the intestine and waste moves out the anus.
