Angler fish are bony fish, meaning their skeletons are made of bone as opposed to cartilage. As Angler fish are vertebrates, the have a spine, which connects to muscle tissue and hold the spinal cord. The bones of fish are lightweight to allow for buoyancy in the water. The fins are bony fans with tissue stretched across them, to create a paddle effect. The bones of the angler fish are very flexible, so that the stomach may expand when holding large prey.
